One last post before bed.... and a long day of travel home. A view of the city from the top of World Trade Center One. New York was always here but I don't think I ever gave it much thought until 2001. And then what happened a block away from where I took this pic to the buildings that bore that name brought it into focus and shaped the direction of history for most of us. The kid had a nine-eleven year herself, traveling to Gander NL this summer and today through the memorial and up into the sky. A kind of complete circle in a way, for us at least. #newyork

Five days in New York City with two missions... try out my new phone's camera and find some reference pics for sketches when i get back home. I've literally got about five hundred amazing cityscapes from day and night and a hundred perspectives. Missions: successful?

At the hotel we're getting ready to hit the town again this morning and watching the show "Today" on NBC. They're talking about the #christmastree that got put up on the weekend. We happened to be walking by as the crane was setting it up. #newyork

Oh... Hello? The kid was excited to see Book of Mormon on Broadway this evening after her dance crew did a choreography to Hello last year, the opening number from this comedy musical. #newyork

Just after we walked up Park Avenue out of Grand Central Terminal we were back at the hotel and the first Avengers film was of TV... and just a few minutes away from the scenes on this street. In that film the fictional Stark Tower was cgi'd over the Metlife Building (centre) and the maim battle with the aliens took place pretty much where we were standing in this pic. The iconic Avengers standing/crouching in a circle pose is just up on the bridge in the right of the frame. And this hippo may as well be painted green and stand in for the Hulk. #newyork

We got metro cards for the whole week and even though we've walked more than we've ridden on the Subway it's proven to be a key part of adventuring when we've needed it. #newyork

We spent a whole lotta time in Times Square this afternoon trying to score tickets to a show tonight... which we did, and had some adventures in the process. #newyork

Whenever you see it in a movie it's always a bustling Central Park scene where the protagonist's story reaches a dramatic conversational plot point. Today it was just raining and though we saw a couple soaked couples and at least three wedding parties, we also pretty much had it to ourselves. #newyork
