castironguy Calling our #garden this season “the best one in years” is a low, low bar, but even so the investment we made to turn our backyard dirt patch into a raised bed is turning out to be a positive win. The slightly better access to putting the weeds in arms-reach has turned out to have a massive effect on the overall health of the garden itself. So it looks better, grows better, and is already producing!

castironguy On my own for dinner I opted for some Indian #spice and in the middle of checking a few errands off my to do list stopped at Tiffin. They always warn me that my choice of entree is #spicy and I always tell them that “yup I know that’s what I always get!” At which point I think I stop being some dope ordering boring butter chicken and start being dude digging the hardcore selections from the menu. There’s always a vibe check that occurs around this point and it always tilts in my favour. #diningout

Chicken for Lunch | 2¼ years ago
castironguy A local institution and by far my favourite place to eat #downtown #edmonton, Chicken for Lunch now has a countdown clock behind the scenes as the crew prepares to shutter in about 8 months. Sad sad #sad.

castironguy The garden is officially planted and irrigated for another year. We’re hoping the raised box is the magic spell we’ve been looking for!

castironguy I’ve made about a thousand of these #egg sandwiches over the years. Sure, you can go to a fast food joint and order yours, but we make them so much better on a #castiron pan I am the #breakfast king!

castironguy December 2nd and I took the day off. Too cold to do much except stay inside and make hot fancy #pizza for #lunch! Blog about it too…

castironguy I've spent the last 3 years thru the pandemic living off #sourdough toast for my #breakfast. Not that I'm sick of bread or anything, but I'm trying to branch out a bit, eat healthier and get a bit more fiber in my diet. Morning oatmeal with fruit and a drizzle of fruit syrup for a touch of sweetness is on the menu these days. Great, though I might need to research oatmeal toppings and mix it up soon.

castironguy We ate authentic New York #bagels almost every morning last week, and on the way home the kid was lamenting how the grocery store version wasn't gonna compare. Sourdough to the rescue? Of course there was a recipe online and this stack just came hot out of the oven for a couple days worth of breakfast back in Edmonton. #baking

castironguy Not quite on every street corner but there's always a #food cart close by when you're hungry. These guys made a mean egg sandwich. #newyork

castironguy While the girls pushed through their jet lag, I wandered out into the morning streets to score some fuel. Bagels from Pick a Bagel, still warm, will keep us going thru to lunch I hope. #bagels #newyork

castironguy I was experimenting with weird and wonderful flours for my sourdough and I came across coffee flour. At the recommended 20% the bread was black, bitter and almost inedible. But I'm going to try again with a much lower fraction and hope for something better.
