castironguy Claire baked croissants from scratch this weekend. They were perfect. If you’ve never tried making croissants before, they are a labour of skill and love, requiring a careful series of folds and lamination of #butter and #dough, creating hundreds of microscopic layers that expand when cooked. Is not for the feint of heart. So… kudos to anyone who can make them and make them well. #croissant

8r4d Sunday #running back in Canada and the #autumn is creeping up, along with a curious #coyote … we ran an eight klick run in the cool morning, and contemplated the approaching winter. This coyote ran across the road in front of us then watched us very carefully as we ran by: Leon shouted at it and it startled a bit, but for a minute there I thought we were going to have a sixth companion for the run.

pixelazy Revisiting my fancy photography from France. I brought along two cameras... my phone and my GoPro, and both got a lot of use. What I did find more enjoyable, though, about striving to take more "nice" photos of Paris and nearby was the effort to try to be less stereotypical in my subjects. It's easy to snap lots of old building pics, but more interesting to find light and critters and shapes. #paris2026

adventuredog nothing beats a nap in the sun on a rainy day

8r4d Weird Al in Concert tonight despite some serious jet lag. The Kid was a trooper, dancing in her seat tho half asleep. Seeing Al in concert was on my bucket list, having been a closet fan for a solid forty years. This guy has stamina and can keep the crowd entertained even after such a long career. Worth the struggle of post-vacation tiredness to make this one happen.

castironguy Came home to some fresh produce in the backyard #garden tho we’ve already been digging potatoes for a few weeks. I planted all my tomatoes from seed this year, and these particular tomatoes emerged from seeds salvaged from some grape tomatoes we had in the fridge. So, what would have been a couple small fruits for a salad turned into a garden full of produce. Wowzers!

castironguy Funny story, kinda, but we randomly checked out this place last night for dinner because it had a 4.8 rating. It was fully booked. So we made a reservation for tonight to see what the fuss was about. Turns out it was a theme restaurant like the Rainforest Cafe but a French take on it and with a thousand times better food than any american garbage restaurant. Sound effects and jungle themed and weird enough to lightly recommend if you’re into an odd experience in the middle of Paris

pixelazy scenic scenes a #paris2026 Architecturally, Paris is gorgeous, obviously. Finding a moment that captures the heart of what one sees around you at every turn, that was an interesting photographic adventure for sure.

8r4d Sunday #running was a little different this week. The a kid and I took the Paris Metro to the Louvre and ran some of the river, then worked our way back to our hotel through the quiet #paris2026 streets.
