Our third day in Tokyo was definitely tough on my poor feet, but we did get a lot of opportunity to practice some basic politeness using today’s #japan word of the day:
ありがとうございます
or arigatoo gozaimasu (the u on the end is silent) which means a kind of polite and formal thank you, and a phrase that you often hear and say when interacting with services and vendors. A sincere nod of the head or light bow has been getting us lots of smiles, too.
