A chilly late #winter#running adventure brought us into the trails for a short stretch. The ice was still here and there but not so bad as last week.

I’ve got four different crops going as of this afternoon. It’s time to plant yer #garden already…. but which i mean pre-sprouting your tomatoes and peppers indoors eight weeks out from potentially planting outside.
I’ve upgraded my setup this year with some grow lights rather than hoping for a warm window sill. And I harvested half’s my seeds from the fridge this year, too, drying seeds from the tomatoes we buy and eat. I’m banking on the assumption that they’re fertile of course (which is not a given) but my backup plan was a package from the store.

Trifecta of #running opposition this morning: strong cold winds, sooooo much ice, and losing an hour for daylight savings spring ahead. We did it, but it hurt.

Heart Creek #hiking is not a difficult mountain trail, in fact some might call little more than a family stroll in the woods. But it is always a treat, and even the tamest hike in the mountains is better than anything we do closer to home. [read more...]

After a three week #running hiatus I was back on the icy #winter trails and logging a #parkrun … probably one of my slowest on record, but better than being stuck on the couch with a sore back.

Technically not my first run of the year but definitely the first time i’ve been #running outside in 2026. Between the deep cold and the icy sidewalks we’ve stuck to the track for the last couple weeks. But 9k on the snowy paths was a great and welcome change of pace.
