Canada Day

For the first time in a lot of years, we’re spending the nation’s birthday out of town. I’m not running the race. I’m not eating a pancake breakfast. I’m not chilling the backyard with a beer. I’m not waiting for fireworks. Instead, we’re in the quasi-wilderness, waking in a tent, hiding from the rain, and grilling some eggs in a cast iron pan over the fire. I’ll take it.
